Texas Comptroller Susan Combs accepted awards from a trade magazine and a statewide travel association.

Government Technology magazine presented Combs with its Bob Bullock Award for Outstanding Public Stewardship. The award is given to those who are committed to public service and work toward a more effective government by using technology as a catalyst for improvement.

The magazine presents the award annually in conjunction with its Government Technology Conference Southwest.

Combs also received the Texas Travel Industry Association’s Silver Spur Award. The award is given to public officials who have shown exemplary service to the state’s travel and tourism industry.

Tourism provides jobs for more than 544,000 Texans and generates $60 billion in direct spending. Since 2000, annual revenues from hotel occupancy in Texas have increased by more than $100 million.
