Dear Friends,
Since I announced my re-election for Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts this past June, my campaign has been building strong momentum. Our hard work paid off when we learned this week that I will not have a primary or general election opponent from either major party!
This is an amazing development that I never expected, and am certain I could not have done it without loyal supporters like you. Thank you for all that you have done to help my re-election campaign.
"The workforce training funds available from the new Jobs Education and Training (JET) program are vital to helping Texas workers acquire more marketable skills in the midst of the worst economic downturn in 70 years. I applaud Comptroller Susan Combs for her efforts to put more Texans to work."
Bill Hammond, President & CEO, Texas Association of Business
I hope you have been enjoying the holiday season thus far, and getting quality time with those who are most important to you.
Yesterday I filed paperwork to continue to serve as Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. This officially begins my road to victory so I may carry out what I am most passionate about, keeping Texas competitive by continuing to be a budget hawk, because, after all, it's your money!
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of Senator Patrick. He and I have worked together very well during the past two sessions and I look forward to continuing that relationship. He is a true conservative and I am proud to call him my friend."
Susan Combs
After the past year of economic hardship, it is easy to forget what is most important in life. I wanted to take a few minutes and share what I am most thankful for this year.
Ninety-one years ago today, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the Armistice was signed ending World War I, sending our boys home with the hope of a lasting peace after a hard-fought victory on European soil.
As history would later reveal, that marked merely a stopping point in a struggle that would engulf the world in war two decades later, and eventually lead to a Cold War between two allies who were previously joined together in the struggle against the Axis powers.
Last week, Comptroller Susan Combs kicked off her fall 2009 grassroots tour in Lubbock and Amarillo. Susan met with supporters and talked about why Texas is better off, as well as how she has made state spending more transparent since taking office January 2007. Thank you to all of you who came out to show your support!
There are quite a few grassroots events left on the schedule this fall. To see if Susan might be in your area, please see below:

Dear friends,
We are mourning the loss of Brianna Becker, who worked with Friends of Susan Combs Committee for nearly a year. Brianna was an extraordinary young woman who was committed to her faith, politics, and her community.
Brianna was enormously experienced in political activism, as evidenced by her heavy involvement with The Texas Public Policy Foundation, the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute, and her position as Vice Chairman of the Young Conservatives of Texas.
